How To Book a Deejay

While many of our events are from repeat customers a large number of the calls and e-mails we receive about our professional DJ services, are from people who have never booked a DJ before. If this is you, this section of our website is for you.

Booking a DJ is not a difficult task. Everyone knows a DJ! Now, for the tough part... finding the right DJ. Finding a professional with the experience to make your event a great one, can get tricky. You see, hiring the wrong DJ is something you do not find out until it’s too late. Your event is too important for a rookie DJ or novice to handle. It’s your wedding day... it’s your family reunion... the senior prom. These moments and these events cannot be recreated. You’ve got one chance for this event to be a great one. This is where the right DJ makes all the difference.

Here Is A Step By Step Guide For Booking The Right DJ For Your Next Event:

•Hire A Professional: Someone with fast talk, big speakers and and a library of downloaded MP3’s may qualify in some books as a DJ. A professional DJ, however, will have years of experience, a vast library which includes thousands of unique song titles, great voice qualities and all professional sound & lighting equipment. A professional will also have references, back up equipment & legally licensed copies of music. Most importantly, a professional DJ will know how to entertain your guests and make your event a great time for everyone!

•Do Not Search By Price: Price alone should never determine your choice in DJ entertainment. While some start-up deejays will offer the world for a cut-rate price, a professional DJ will charge a fee based on industry standards that are consistent with their quality. Remember, a DJ for less is probably less of a DJ. Your wedding day, school dance, pool party or Bar/Bat Mitzvah is not the time to find out that a bargain DJ was the wrong choice.

•Do Not Settle: You deserve a great event! From your guest list to decorations... plans have been made to create this event. By hiring a true professional, your event will be handled by a DJ entertainer who knows how to add just the right touches so that your guests remember your event for all the right reasons.

•Check References: Any reputable and professional DJ will have references readily available. Make sure those references are applicable to your type of event. A nightclub DJ may have great references, but a nightclub DJ may not be the best choice for a wedding reception. Also, great references from out of town clients or events which date back two or three years, may not serve as an accurate indication of their recent and local work.

•Ask Questions: Here is a sample list of questions you should ask when considering potential deejays...

1. What styles of music do you have?
2. Are you insured?
3. What experience do you have in my specific type of event?
4. Do you have back up equipment?
5. What happens if you get sick or an emergency comes up?
6. Will I be able to speak directly with the scheduled DJ for my event?
7. What is your attire for my event?
8. Do you take breaks? Will you be present for the entire time of the event?
9. Do you have a written contract?
10. Do you accept requests in advance and on location, at my event?

These are all very valid and important questions to ask a potential DJ. Remember, this is your event and you should feel 100% comfortable with the DJ you hire!
