How far in advance should we book with you?
Booking well in advance, generally allows you more options. Three - Six months in advance is typically enough lead time for us to have an open calendar. During certain peak months (April, May, June, July, October & December) more lead time is usually better. If your event is in less than 48 hours, please call our Emergency DJ Service at 1-800-841-2210.

Can I meet with MAPDJA prior to my event?
Yes. We enjoy meeting with our current and potential clients. Meeting with us is a great way to determine if our professional DJ entertainers are the right choice for your event. We are located in Kensington, MD. We do not mind scheduling appointments on location to make it a bit more convenient for you. Appointments are scheduled for any time, Monday - Thursday, 11:00 am - 7:00 pm. We apologize that weekend appointments are limited, due to our performance schedule.

How much experience do your deejays have?
Our DJ entertainers average more than 10 years experience in the DJ business. Our training practices are thorough. Each DJ entertainer has been trained at the hands of our company’s CEO, Kurtis Cross. This training begins with private parties & school dances and then escalates to wedding receptions. Along the way, we teach voice training, music selection, customer service professionalism, equipment troubleshooting, guest interaction and more. This training does not take place over a few days or weeks. It takes months of training before we can determine a trainee's ability to become one of our DJ entertainers. Our intense training allows our staff to cover all the bases and make your event a great one!

How do I make a reservation?
Please visit our “Reserve Your Date” link under the General Information tab of our website. For your convenience, you can reserve your date by telephone, through e-mail or by sending a fax. Once you reserve your date, we do not cancel or overbook for any reason.

Do I tip the deejay?
Tips are appreciated but not required. We do not add an automatic gratuity to any of our services. All tips are paid directly to our DJ entertainers. If you find that your DJ entertainer did an outstanding job and you would like to tip him/her, please feel free to do so.

How much time does your staff need to set-up?
For all events, we require a minimum of one (1) hour of set-up time. Although most events only require 20-30 minutes of set-up, we like to prepare for any eventuality. Some events do require more set-up time. For large scale events, we may require an overnight set-up. please inquire specifically about your event for a guaranteed set-up time.

What if I change my date?
If you must postpone your event, for any reason, we ask that you contact us right away with your date change. In most cases, your deposit will transfer to a date of your choosing, within one (1) calendar year of your original event date. We cannot guarantee our availability for your new date, so please contact us ASAP with any date changes, for best availability. All postponements must occur more than seven (7) days prior to your event to qualify for an unconditional deposit transfer.

What if something happens to my DJ?
We will not let you down. In our 20+ years in the DJ industry, we have never cancelled a booked event. We always have back up DJ entertainers and back up equipment. You can reserve your date with The MAPDJA, knowing that we will be there for you!

What type of equipment do you use?
For all of our events, we only use professional sound and lighting equipment. We exclusively use the following brands:

QSC (Amplifiers)
Shure (Wired & Wireless Mics)
Sennheiser (Wireless Mics)
Numark (Dual CD Players)
Denon (CD/MP3 Players)
Macbook & Macbook Pro (Music Interface With Pro DJ Software)
Numark & Rane (DJ Mixers)
